With meticulous precision and unmatched taste, our experts at EMCO turn rough and polished emeralds into distinct and individualized pieces of art. Gemstones need to be studied and understood in order to maximize color and beauty. Prior to cutting, our team of experts spends time getting to know each gemstone, creating several plans for how to shape the crystal. Once the gemstone is cut, it is then cleaned to remove any polishing powder left on the surface. During the final phase, the gemstone is treated with a clear oil and/or polymer type liquid to fill the natural fissures of the gem. The process of “oiling” has been used to enhance emeralds for centuries and remains the most effective way to improve clarity, maximizing the light dispersion through each gemstone.
